If you’re new to Racine—or just exploring church again—you’re warmly welcome here.
Walking into a church for the first time, or for the first time in a long time, can feel a little intimidating. At St. Michael's Episcopal Church, we want you to know there is no need to have everything figured out before you arrive. You do not need to know when to stand, what to say, or how Episcopal worship “works.” The bulletins provided (at either entrance) are thoughtfully designed to guide you through every part of the service so you can participate as much or as little as you are comfortable.
Come as you are. Seriously - questions, curiosity, uncertainty, kids making noise, coffee in hand, lifelong faith, fragile faith, no faith at all - there is room for all of that here.

What to Expect When You Visit:
At St. Michael's Episcopal Church, you will find a welcoming, grounded, and authentic community. Our worship is reverent without feeling stiff, and friendly without feeling overwhelming. We use the Book of Common Prayer and do Holy Communion at all of our services.
How do I dress?
Some people dress up, others come in casual jeans. It’s about being comfortable! Some of our kids sport costumes weekly.
Am I going to be the only new face?
No! Some have been here for decades, others are just beginning to explore faith again. We are all here for each other!
What if I don’t know what to say or when to say it?
Our services follow a printed bulletin, or you are guided with books provided, making it easy to participate or simply observe. You are always free to join in as much or as little as you feel comfortable.
Can I take communion?
Yes. In The Episcopal Church, all baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion.
If you are not baptized or would prefer not to receive, you are still warmly invited to come forward for a blessing or to remain seated. No one will single you out or make assumptions. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome at God’s table.

What about my kids?

Wiggles, whispers, dropped crayons, and occasional toddler commentary are not interruptions to church life. They are church life. We have Kid Kits right at the door, full of activities!
Families worship together, and we believe children belong fully in the life of the congregation. We want kids to feel safe, seen, and included, whether they are quietly coloring in the pew or asking excellent and unexpected theological questions on the drive home (or even in during the service!).
Accessibility?
Sensory Kits ————→
Easy access to all three floors via elevator. Elevator is located in the east entrance (this is the main one we use off the parking lot!)
Sensory kits with noise cancelling headphones and fidgets are available for sensory sensitive folks. They are in a marked bin as you come in from the west entrance (the red door).
“Kid Kits” are available for families with kiddos to grab on the way into church to keep little hands busy while they enjoy Sunday Service. Located in bins next to the sensory kits at west entrance.
We also have multiple areas for kids/adults to step out and either move or have a calm moment and are welcome to utilize them.
